AT POMONA WE LIVE IN BALANCE WITH THE NATURE THAT SURROUNDS US.

The vineyard covers 6 hectares and to reach it I just need to cross the road.

I believe in the principles of organic farming, certified on the label since 2012.

I let the grass grow between the rows, I practice green manure, I plant clover and barley, I breathe lightly what will go into the bottle.

The exposure of the ridge is to the east/west, the maximum altitude is 360 meters above sea level and all around the forest, plants and streams, mitigate the temperatures.

SANT'ILARIO

Eastern exposure.
Marl, alberese limestone, and clay schists.

VIGNA DEL TERMINE

2004 e 2014

Less clay-rich soils, yet still with a strong limestone presence. Marl and a little sand, with eastern exposure, where the vine grows alongside downy oak, broom, and juniper.

OMINO

1998

Predominance of limestone and clay; here, alberese becomes the dominant component.
Western exposure.
A poor, lean soil where the roots make their way deep into the ground.

The land on which our estate stands tells an ancient story, written in stone over millions of years. Its most distinctive rocks belong to distant geological eras:

  • Alberese, linked to the Monte Morello Formation, was formed during the Eocene, between 40 and 50 million years ago;
  • Galestro, a typical Tuscan sedimentary rock known for its distinctive flaky structure, originated in the Miocene, between 23 and 5 million years ago;
  • Marl, composed of limestone and clay, was formed later, during the Pliocene, between 5 and 2.5 million years ago.

From this extraordinary layering of time comes the character of the land: a place of depth, authenticity, and memory, preserving its truest identity within its very nature.

We are lucky to live in a wonderful unique landscape and we have the moral duty to respect it.

THE OLIVE OIL

Ready to dip bread in it.

Traditional low density plant, spontaneous grassing and absence of synthetic products.

Manual harvesting, immediate and cold pressing are the secrets for making a good and healthy oil.

The most common cultivar is the Frantoio, followed by Pendolino, Moraiolo and Leccino.

THE VEGETABLE GARDEN

We eat what we grow and we feel we are an integral part of this circular system.

The vegetable garden, surprising us according to the season, the fruit trees, the natural compost.

Hens around, mushrooms, bees.
