A veterinarian who closes her clinic, to be a wine maker.

I’m Monica Raspi and I chose to make wine.

Since 1991 I live in Pomona, a small town near Castellina in Chianti, in the most traditional, territorial and (for me) familiar heart of the Chianti Classico.

I am a veterinarian by profession, but in 2007 I decided to close my clinic, pick up the Enology manual and get on the tractor.

Fornace Riccieri

1890

Giovanni Bandino Bandini, my great-grandfather, buys the Riccieri furnace and turns it into a farm.

Inge & Enzo

1982

Enzo and Inge, my parents, recover two old vineyards and voilà... we started to make wine.

2007

I take over and get back in the game.

Fattoria Pomona is my land, my cellar, my place of action (and testing).

The decision to take care of the land in Pomona remains one of the craziest and most wonderful decisions I have ever made.
